Do you want to play football alongside gaining an academic qualification?
Oaklands College in association with the St. Albans City Youth Development Scheme offers you the opportunity to gain a recognised academic qualification while fulfilling your sporting potential.
You will receive 16 hours of coaching each week by the St. Albans City Football Club and spend 12 hours a week at the college, studying either a BTEC National Certificate at different levels, a First Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science, or a National Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science.
Lectures will be in the morning and football training sessions in the afternoon. One day a week will be reserved for football matches played at Clarence Park, home of St Albans City FC.
The football club will closely monitor your progress and there will be an opportunity to play in the reserve team and the senior team if you excel on the course.
You will also be encouraged to come to St Albans City home games and participate in the running of the club on match day. You can undertake a Level 1 coaching certificate to add to your CV and we will highlight the importance of having academic qualifications when considering a career in football.The coaching course will be delivered by highly qualified coaches who are either UEFA 'A' or 'B' standard.
